Buying you better with consierge shopping

Buying Butler are a consierge buying service, using their industry expertise to save you money and time on complex purchases. As lead product designer, I worked closely with the in-house team, to take their existing MVP to scale it into a full product.

We kicked off the project by performing an audit on the existing service – looking at existing data and analytics to understand legacy issues with the existing platform, interviewing stakeholders and performing customer and competitor research.

Armed with this insight, we performed a series of workshops to tear-down the existing service and define the new product.

Defining new features

Along with defining a new visual style, the new iteration would come packed with new features. Collaborating with stakeholders, development and marketing departments, we outlined new feature and roadmap items, created user journeys and paper prototypes.

Modular design

Not only was responsive design a requisite aspect of the design, we also had to design for future outputs. Additionally, we needed to be mindful of the dynamic nature of user generated content.

As a result we opted for a 'card' based design which allowed us to create a system which was devise agnostic – developing familiarity with the service however you choose to shop – and content agnostic.

This design principle allowed us to create 'cards' which could have interchangeable content areas depending on the type of products listed – allowing us to offer expertise rather than become generic.
